Greece - Athena crying / 2012 - 2017

"I like walking in the rain, cause no one knows, I'm crying" - seen on a house wall in Tavros, a working-class district of Athens. 

The existential economic and financial crisis in these years was reflected in the people's faces and in the graffiti on the walls of Athens. Empty shops lined up one after the other. The sound of the rattling carts of the scrap metal collectors as they make their way through the streets to the scrap metal collection points. People patiently waiting in front of food banks and the overcrowded medical clinics and job centres. Mountains of garbage and abandoned construction sites. Life in the posh districts like Kolonaki went on almost as usual.
